BOO!  IT'S HALLOWEEN AT THE HARWOOD

Taos, N.M. - Traditional Halloween trick-or-treating is Monday, Oct. 31, but kids of all ages don't have to wait until then to start the fun. The Harwood Museum of Art's "Halloween at the Harwood," Saturday, Oct. 29, 10- 11:30 a.m., celebrates all things spooky and is free and open to the public.

Participants will start with a search for skeletons in the museum collection. Harwood Curator of Education and Public Programs, Lucy Perera, will talk about Doña Sebastiana, a famous figure in New Mexican folklore with roots in both Cupid and St. Sebastian. Perera will help the group discover the unusual places Doña Sebastiana shows up in paintings and sculpture throughout the Harwood Museum of Art.

Following the visit to through the museum's galleries, children, parents and friends are invited to the Harwood's Fern Hogue Mitchell Art Studio.  There the Halloween art extravaganza continues with hands-on art projects creating larger than life skull masks, skeleton puppets, skeleton flip books and more. The museum will provide the art supplies.

"Our spooky tour and hands-on art program will get folks ready for Halloween," says Lucy Perera, Curator of Education and Public Programs. "Please join us on Saturday, Oct 29 at 10 a.m. for this fun, free and spooky event."
