KARAOKE COMPETITION SHOWDOWN AT BUFFALO THUNDER

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tuesday, March 9, 2010

SANTA FE, N.M. - Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino wants to give the Kelly Clarksons and Clay Aikens of northern New Mexico their chance to shine.

Buffalo Thunder has been auditioning singers who love to belt it out an opportunity to try their luck on Karaoke Tuesdays with DJ John, now through March 31, 9 to 10 p.m.  The competitions take place in the Blue Tower Lounge, a 100-seat entertainment venue located on the casino level.

Each week, local New Mexicans take the microphone and are able to showcase their  talent on a real stage with a real audience.

Karaoke Tuesdays is giving gifted individuals the opportunity to reveal their otherwise unknown talent to America. On March 30, the qualified finalists from two months of  weekly competitions will convene for a showdown.  The best six guys and six gals will continue on to the New Mexico State Championship in Roswell.

The finalists from the New Mexico state competition will return to Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino for the Region #8 Finals, Friday, July 16, and Saturday, July17.  The A-listers from the Region #8 face-off will then go on to compete in the KWCUSA National Championship in August 2010 in Cincinnati, Ohio.  The national champs will travel to Moscow, Russia in September 2010 for the grand crowning competition, Karaoke World Championship.

Contestants are judged on their voice, rhythm, how they convey the meaning and mood of the song, their stage presence and also the entertainment value for the audience and judges.

"Everyone really enjoys the performances, you get drawn into the Karaoke world." says DJ John.  "There are many talented people around and you'd never know it until you put a microphone in their hands!"

There is a lot of talent in northern New Mexico and hopefully one of them will make it to the final competition in Russia.

The competition is open to amateurs only. Unlike professional singers, amateurs are performers who do not earn a full-time income from singing. Participants must be 18 years or older. Males and females have their own categories. The language used in singing may be chosen freely and competitors can bring their own karaoke discs.

By hosting Karaoke Tuesdays, Buffalo Thunder hopes to contribute to KWCUSA's mission, which is to provide opportunities for skilled vocalists who perform at karaoke venues nationwide. With engaging and fun-filled competitions like those held at Buffalo Thunder every Tuesday, the American public will undoubtedly become more aware of and interested in the talent that karaoke can uncover.
